Aug 01, 2022 (newstodate): Great news for Helsinki Airport, seeing the Chinese carrier Sichuan Airlines back after a long period of suspension.
Starting from July 29, 2022, Sichuan Airlines has resumed once-weekly rotations on the route from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport to Helsinki Airport with Airbus A330 aircraft.
The carrier first added Helsinki to its route map from September 16, 2019, operating a twice-weekly triangular service Chengdu-Helsinki-Copenhagen-Helsinki-Chengdu, based on the carrier's 5th Freedom rights.
However, with the return of flights to Finland the route is now operated directly between Chengdu and Helsinki, cutting Copenhagen Airport off the track.
The flights on the route have been suspended since early in 2020 due to the spread of the coronavirus.
Sichuan Airlines is handled by Aviator Finland at Helsinki Airport.
