Aug 26, 2022 (newstodate): The Icelandic cargo carrier Bluebird Nordic has now taken in its third Boeing 737-800 converted freighter.
Like the two earlier deliveries, the aircraft is placed under an agreement with the Avia Solutions Group's AviaAM Leasing after completion of P2F conversion works by Boeing at Taikoo (Shandong) Aircraft Engineering Company Limited (STAECO) facility in Jinan (TNA), China.
The first Boeing 737-800 converted freighter was delivered to Bluebird Nordic in October 2021 after undergoing cargo conversion at Taikoo Aircraft Engineering Company, followed by a C-check performed by FL Technics and repainting by MAAS Aviation, both at Lithuania's Kaunas Airport - and the second aircraft followed in February 2022.
A member of the Avia Solutions Group, Bluebird Nordic is to take in a total of 25 Boeing 737-800 converted freighters till 2024, adding to its existing fleet comprising one Boeing 737-300, seven Boeing 737-400 freighters and soon three Boeing 737-800.
In addition, the carrier is to build up capacity in the wide-body cargo segment as well, signing a lease agreement in January this year with Dublin-based lessor STLC Europe Twenty Five Leasing Ltd for two Boeing 777-300ER passenger aircraft to be converted to cargo version and offered in the airfreight market by 2024.
