Aug 03, 2022 (newstodate): The return of Sichuan Airlines to Helsinki Airport provides Finavia with a glimmer of hope in challenging times.
   -Honestly, I did not expect to see Sichuan Airlines returning services in summer 2022, so this was really a nice surprise, says Petri Vuori, Finavia Snr VP Sales and Route Development.
   -For obvious reasons, our Asian traffic has been at a low for some years now; but with the opening also of Finnair's flights to Guangzhou from September 6, 2022, we will have four weekly flights to Mainland China in addition to 14 weekly flights to Hong Kong which is of course way behind the pre-Covid situation. Still, this is encouraging signs that the situation is slowly turning for the better.
   -Juneyao Airlines has retained its traffic from Shanghai to Helsinki all through the period with one weekly rotation. Prior to the Covid-19, we also saw Tibet Airlines with two weekly flights between Jinan and Helsinki; we have, however, no indication when, or if, Tibet Airlines plans to return to Finland, and so far Jinan Airport is also not opened up by CAAC for international services.
