Aug 15, 2022 (newstodate): Air Greenland is looking into a new future with the opening of new international airports and new long-haul aircraft capacity.
In preparation for this, the company is in the market calling applicants to a new position as Air Greenland Director Airline Route Development.
The successful candidate will analyze and evaluate potentials for new international routes from Greenland including new destinations, build a network with international partners including airlines, airports, agents and authorities, and next cooperate with Air Greenland's Network Revenue Management in establishing the selected new international routes.
Greenland will see the opening of new international airports at Nuuk and Ilulissat by the end of 2024, while the airline will take delivery of its new Airbus A330-800neo in H1/2023.
Tentatively, the aircraft is scheduled to launch operations on the trunk route between Kangerlussuaq and Copenhagen on March 27, 2023, as well as the monthly charter flight between Copenhagen and Pittufik, Thule Air Force Base, with the first operation on April 19, 2023.
The new aircraft will replace the airline’s aging Airbus A330-200 to secure operations between Greenland and Denmark, offering the capacity of lifting up to 257 passengers over a range of 15,090 km, compared to 250 passengers on the A330-200 flying up to 13,450 km.
