Jul 26, 2022 (newstodate): Sweden's Jonkoping Airport reports sustained high cargo loads in the first half of 2022.
A total of 366 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport in June 2022, an increase by 10 percent, y-o-y, as well as the highest volume in one month since January 2018!
June '22 thus brought the H1/2022 totals to 1,615 tonnes, which is 18 percent over H1/2021.
Jonkoping Airport's cargo business builds primarily on FedEx, Time:Matters and DANX connecting the airport with Brussels, Karlsruhe, Oslo, Billund and Helsinki.
Contributing to the strong development in 2022 is the return from January 31, 2022, of PostNord Sweden that has reinstated a nightly flight on weekdays from Stockholm Arlanda to Jonkoping Airport, further expanded since May 2, 2022, as PostNord now carries mail also on the return flight from Jonkoping to Stockholm Arlanda.
Another strong development is seen in the ad-hoc cargo flights segment that generated 157 tonnes of cargo during H1/22, compared to 40 tonnes in Jan-Dec 2021 - and only eight tonnes in 2020.
