Jul 26, 2022 (newstodate): Russia is fighting to keep its aviation industry afloat despite sanctions by Western manufacturers following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
As one venue, Russia is now aiming at restoring the airworthiness of a batch of 11 decommissioned aircraft including one Antonov An-124, two Ilyushin Il-96-400T and eight Tupolev Tu-204/214 aircraft parked at various Russian airports.
When restored to airworthy conditions, the AN-124 will be put on lease by Volga-Dnepr; Aviastar-TU will receive the two Il-96, and Red Wings will take lease of the eight TU-204/214.
