Jul 25, 2022 (newstodate): Lithuania's Kaunas Airport is continuing its program for major infrastructure enhancements.
Lithuanian Airport has now signed a design work contract with Kelprojektas in preparation for a project for the expansion of the northern apron of Kaunas Airport.
The project will offer additional aircraft parking and engine testing areas to increase the number of aircraft parking plots at Kaunas Airport by more than 50 per cent.
The pertinent building permit will be issued by mid-February 2023, with contract works slated to start in 2023.
When completed, the addition space will ease the load on the existing parking lots, while expanding the capacity to accommodate and park more aircraft, as well as providing safe aircraft engine testing in specially adapted, dedicated bays.
The project will also benefit the operations by NATO forces that are operating a large volume of flights at Kaunas Airport.
