Jul 27, 2022 (newstodate): Notwithstanding the negative effects from the Covid-19, the closure of Russian airspace and strict travel restrictions in air traffic, Finnair Cargo still saw its cargo growing in H1/2022.
A total of 64,245 tonnes of cargo was carried in January-June 2022, an increase by 59.6 percent, y-o-y.
For obvious reasons, the Asian traffic generating 27,227 tonnes were far below pre-Covid levels, but still increasing by 92.6 percent, y-o-y.
To compensate for the shortfall of Asian traffic, Finair has been forced to redirect its focus to the North Atlantic markets where the company lifted 17,803 tonnes, no less than 1,450 percent above volumes in H1/2021.
With 10,449 tonnes, the European traffic was also up by 904 percent.
With the gradual recovery of the passenger traffic, Finnair's all-cargo business was only generating 8,691 tonnes in H1, down 63.5 percent.
