Jul 25, 2022 (newstodate): Billund Airport is again seeing its freighter traffic business in the focus as Virgin Atlantic Cargo makes its entry already from August 3, 2022.
From this date, Virgin Atlantic Cargo will introduce three weekly rotations connecting Billund Airport to its main base at London Heathrow Airport with transfer of cargo shipments to and from destinations in the USA, South Africa and a range of other options.
Serving Virgin Atlantic Cargo in the Scandinavian markets is WHF as GSSA.
The news comes only shortly after the decision by the new cargo carrier Maersk Air Cargo to set up its base at Billund Airport with three Boeing 767 freighters for cargo flights between Europe and China also from later this year.
Also with the first flight on January 3, 2022, Billund Airport has seen the Icelandic cargo carrier Bluebird Nordic going online with flights coming in from Keflavik to Billund, continuing to Bonn/Cologne Airport and returning along the same route in a cooperation with UPS that has long been serving the route between Billund and Cologne with an ATP aircraft operated by West Atlantic.
