Jun 10, 2022 (newstodate): UPS has named a new president for the UK, Ireland and the Nordic markets: Rick Fletcher.
Mr Fletcher served as country manager for Austria and Slovenia, before he returned to the UK in 2015 to be named director of engineering for the UK, Ireland and Nordics, promoted to VP Operations Europe region in 2020.
-Mr Fletcher's appointment comes as UPS continues to make important investments through the district, including a £138m investment in its new air hub at East Midlands Airport in the UK, as well as the arrival of a new direct flight segment between Billund in west Denmark and UPS’s European air hub at Cologne/Bonn airport in Germany, the company said on a statement.
Billund Airport became a steady UPS destination from March 14, 2011, when the integrator revised its set-up for freighter services, replacing Malmo Airport with Billund.
With the first flight operated for UPS on January 3, 2022, Bluebird Nordic is now online at Billund with five weekly flights coming in from Keflavik to Billund, continuing to Bonn/Cologne Airport in cooperation with UPS that has long been serving the route between Billund and Cologne with an ATP aircraft operated by West Atlantic.
Bluebird Nordic is serving the route with a Boeing 737-800 converted freighter, with exports of Icelandic seafood providing a solid basis for the profitability of the route.
