Jun 13, 2022 (newstodate): Copenhagen Airport is to work out a plan for parking of trucks delivering or picking up cargo at the airport's terminals.
During the recent period marked by low passenger traffic, trucks were allowed to park in one of the airport's several outlying car park areas as a temporary solution - but as passenger traffic is now picking up again, this venue has been closed for trucks.
To avoid congestion and streamline handling operations, trucks providing road feeder services are allotted slot times at cargo terminals, generating a need for dedicated parking areas.
Stakeholders including ParkBird, Wallenborn Transports and DHL Denmark are now working with Copenhagen Airport on finding a permanent solution.
In 2019, newstodate dug into the issue with Copenhagen Airport, and had this response:
-There are no immediate plans for establishing a dedicated parking area within the airport area, said Lars Lemche, at the time Copenhagen Airport Acting Head of Media Relations & Senior Advisor.
-We do, however, watch the situation. It is important to secure the operation of the cargo business, and ensure that it does not bother our neighbors.
