Jun 17, 2022 (newstodate): Copenhagen is recovering in cargo volumes, not least thanks to the return of belly capacity on passenger aircraft as traffic gradually rebounds.
Actually, the airport has now so far into 2022 recovered 90.2 percent of the cargo handled in the same period in 2019.
In January-May 2022, the airport thus handled a combined total of 140,080 tonnes of cargo on legacy and integrator traffic, corresponding to an increase by 20 percent, y-o-y.
On legacy carriers' traffic alone, the increase was even 22 percent, y-o-y, to 90,379 tonnes, of which 46,687 tonnes were belly cargo that rose steeply by 26 percent due to increased route traffic.
On the other hand, legacy all-cargo volumes are still insignificant, contributing only 45 tonnes during the period in 2022, compared to 20,378 tonnes in pre-Covid 2019.
For the first time since the coronavirus pandemic, the recovery in cargo volumes at Copenhagen Airport was not driven by the integrators that also increased in volumes in January-May 2019, albeit "only" at 16.4 percent, y-o-y, to 39,700 tonnes
