May 10, 2022 (newstodate): Last year, Qatar Airways Cargo lifted its volumes of Norwegian seafood carried to new heights.
The airline reports a total of over 46,000 tonnes of salmon in 2021, which marks a new annual record since the airline went online with freighter services in Norway from January 29, 2013, adding passenger flights from October 5, 2011.
Today, Qatar Airways operates seven passenger flights and six Boeing 777 freighter services from Oslo Airport to its home base at Doha, translating into some 850 tonnes of cargo capacity per week.
In February 2021, the airline in February also announced the record-breaking uplift of more than 68,944 kg salmon on a single lower deck 777 passenger flight - however not out of Oslo, but from Norway's Harstad-Narvik Airport, Evenes, where Qatar Airways Cargo temporarily operated a Boeing 777-300ER passenger aircraft with up to three weekly flights from December 14, 2020.
In the Norwegian market, Qatar Airways Cargo is served by its GSA partner, the ECS Group subsidiary NordicGSA with Carl Christian Skage as Mng Dir.
