May 02, 2022 (newstodate): The first of two 767-300ER passenger aircraft in the fleet of Icelandair is now starting the conversion program.
The aircraft has been flown to ST Engineering facility in Singapore for conversion to freighter after having been stored during the Covid-19 period, and the second aircraft will follow shortly.
After conversion of the two Boeing 767-300 aircraft, redelivery is slated for September 2022, and two Boeing 757 freighters will then be retired in 2023 and 2024, respectively, as their lease periods expire.
To facilitate the transaction, Icelandair Group has signed a 10 years sale/lease-back agreement with Titan Aircraft Investments for the two Boeing 767-300ER aircraft to be converted, also freeing cash in times of trouble.
