May 24, 2022 (newstodate): Maersk Air Cargo is building up its organization and plans to move HQ to Lyngby, north of Copenhagen.
The move of HQ from Star Air's current location at Copenhagen Airport South will take place by September 2022, also signaling the merger of Star Air into the new airline entity announced earlier this spring.
Maersk Air Cargo will be operating 15 Boeing 767-300 freighter aircraft with operational bases at Leipzig and Cologne/Bonn, primarily moving air cargo for integrator customers UPS and DHL under contracts signed with Star Air.
In the first phase, Maersk Air Cargo will operate three Boeing 767 freighters - currently being converted from passenger versions - to be based at Denmark's Billund Airport for cargo flights between Europe and China, adding two new ex-factory Boeing 777F aircraft in late 2024 dedicated to serving customers of Maersk Air Cargo.
The new cargo airline to be managed by Peter Corfitsen as CEO builds on the existing in-house cargo airline Star Air with a current fleet of 15 Boeing 767 cargo aircraft including 12 Boeing 767-200 and three Boeing 767-300 converted freighters operating on contracts with integrators as well as providing charter services.
