May 13, 2022 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier is growing its fleet of aircraft in 2022 and will need more pilots to satisfy the gradual recovery of the aviation market.
The airline has therefore launched a fresh campaign for recruiting a total of 120 additional pilots, including graduates of the airBaltic Pilot Academy.
-While we continue to employ our airBaltic Pilot Academy graduates and rehire former employees, this time our needs for additional staff reach further, meaning that we are looking for external pilots to join our company. Additional pilots are required to prepare the airline for capacity we will fly in summer 2023, the company says in a release.
On the roster today are 315 pilots to operate the fleet comprising 34 Airbus A220-300 aircraft, growing to 40 aircraft before the end of this year.
Only in February this year, the airline employed 1,366 people, including 200 pilots and 342 cabin crew, starting a campaign to recruit 120 pilots and 200 cabin crew members by summer 2022, primarily by rehiring former staff.
