May 25, 2022 (newstodate): Icelandair has emerged from Q1/22 in a rather good shape, according to its latest financial report.
Revenues were thus up 18 percent, y-o-y, with operating profits increasing by 24 percent compared to Q1/21.
The airline's flight operations are also now increasing continuously, currently totaling 44 daily flights, including 30 heading for European destinations and 14 towards the USA.
With five daily rotations in summer 2022, flights between Keflavik and Copenhagen top the list, in addition to three daily rotations between Keflavik and Boston, New York and Paris, and two daily flights to London, Oslo, Stockholm and Amsterdam.
This summer, Icelandair plans to be operating 6,700 flights at Keflavik Airport, securing a market share at around 60 percent of the airport's operations.
Isavia expects to be handling 5.7 mio passengers this year, which equals 79 percent of the pre-COVID numbers, and 16 percent up on last year, while transit passenger volumes will reach 73 percent of the 2019-figures.
Isavia's passenger forecast predicts that 2022 will see almost 1.5 million transfer passengers, compared to just over 2 million in 2019 and only 350,000 last year.
This summer will see 24 airlines operating at Keflavik Airport, against 25 in 2019, and the airport will be connected to 75 destinations against 80 in summer 2019.
