May 24, 2022 (newstodate): While placing several of its own aircraft with operators during this summer season, Finnair is also leasing in external capacity for its traffic.
Finnair has thus contracted the Danish charter and ACMI carrier DAT for wet-lease of one Airbus A320 including crews from June till September 2022.
The aircraft will be allocated to serving on Finnair's route between Helsinki and Copenhagen in June, and on Finnair's routes between Helsinki and Oulu and between Helsinki and Lisbon between July and October.
Also this summer, four of Finnair's Airbus A321 have been wet-leased to British Airways for a 4-months period; two aircraft were delivered on May 3, and the remaining two will join by June 2022.
But British Airways will also take another four Airbus A321 aircraft on similar wet-lease conditions from Finnair, bringing the total to eight aircraft - so far - for operations on 24 routes out of London Heathrow Airport in summer 2022.
The Lufthansa Group subsidiary Eurowings will also be flying with leased aircraft from Finnair, taking in two Airbus A350 in May and one more in June 2022, to be operated till the end of the summer season.
Also, Finnair's subsidiary Norra will be placing two ATR 72-500 aircraft on a wet-lease contract with Wideroe during the summer season.
