May 04, 2022 (newstodate): The closure of Russian airspace has dealt a blow to Finnair's Asian traffic, leaving the carrier with excess aircraft capacity.
As an alternative to outright sale of aircraft, the carrier is placing capacity with other carriers on wet-lease or ACMI contracts.
One customer for Finnair is British Airways that is to operate four Airbus A321 during the summer.
Two of the four Airbus A321 entered service with BA on May 3, 2022, and two more aircraft will join BA in June 2022.
Another customer for Finnair is Eurowings Discover that will be operating two Airbus A350-900XWB aircraft from the first week of May 2022, adding one more aircraft from June.
