Apr 27, 2022 (newstodate): Sweden's Stockholm Arlanda Airport is seeing a brisk rebound in flown cargo volumes Q1/2022.
In January-March 2022, a total of 26,982 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport - an increase by 19 percent, y-o-y, driven by a 26.6 percent hike in exports, totaling 16,332 tonnes, while imports were also up by 8.9 percent to 10,650 tonnes.
In addition to integrator traffic by DHL, UPS and FedEx, Turkish Airlines operates three weekly rotations from Istanbul with A330-200F aircraft and Korean Air Cargo operates two weekly rotations from Seoul with Boeing 777F aircraft - but Arlanda Airport still has to see a strong return of long-haul passenger flights carrying belly cargo loads.
Swedavia's two other key cargo airports at Gothenburg and Malmo fared less positively in Q1/2022; flown volumes at Gothenburg Airport dropped 6.1 percent to 4,484 tonnes, while volumes handled at Malmo Airport were down 12.8 percent, to 4,866 tonnes.
At both airports, the decline was seen in both exports and imports.
