Apr 06, 2022 (newstodate): The project for establishing the new SAS subsidiary SAS Link are now maturing.
Expectations are that the new airline will receive its own AOC today, and the first Embraer E195 aircraft is also expected to arrive at Copenhagen Airport today, April 6, after being readied for entry into commercial service from the coming weekend with a test flight on the route between Copenhagen and Aalborg today.
Six Embraer 195 aircraft formerly operated by FlyBe have been reconfigured and painted and will be delivered on a long-term lease contract with the British leasing company Falko Regional Aircraft Limited, a provider to SAS since 2011.
An element in the new SAS strategy, SAS Forward, SAS Link will be operating as a mid-size airline with its base at Copenhagen Airport, providing regional air traffic on SAS routes.
In Norway, another SAS Link base will be Bergen Flesland Airport, allocating up to three Embraer E195 aircraft and recruiting some 100 cockpit and cabin staff to provide flights on routes to destinations in northern Norway as well as Scandinavia.
Serving SAS Link with ground handling services at Bergen will be Aviator Airport Alliance under a five-year contract signed with SAS in 2020.
