Apr 01, 2022 (newstodate): The state-owned company Lithuanian Airports has opened a tender for a master plan analyzing and preparing for a long-term network development of Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga airports.
The master plan will provide guidelines for the development of the airport network over the next ten years, reviewing the current infrastructure capacity and assessing the long-term development perspective for different scenarios.
The analysis and strategy will focus on the specific strengths of the individual airports, flight development, and capacity building of passenger and cargo terminals.
The master plan will also comprise a financial forecast for the long-term development period, an overview of the impact of airports on the country's economy, and plans for the use of land plots owned by Lithuanian airports.
The tender will procure long-term development plan services to be provided by professional consultants; contracts will be signed with the winners of the tender in the second half of this year, and a long-term network development plan will be prepared by the summer of 2023.
In 2022, Lithuanian Airports will be changed from a state-owned enterprise to a limited liability company by the end of the year, still with all shares held by the Lithuanian state.
All efforts are being made to complete the interim preparations within the first half of this year, with the Plc company to become a Ltd company by mid-2022, already.
Since July 1, 2014, all three state-owned international airports in Lithuania have been jointly managed by Lithuanian Airports Plc.
