Apr 19, 2022 (newstodate): A booming German market for leisure flights forces the Lufthansa Group's charter airline Eurowings to lease capacity from external providers.
Latest in the line of suppliers for summer 2022 is the Finnish carrier Finnair that is reportedly placing two or three Airbus A350 long-haul aircraft on a wet-lease contract with Eurowings, including also cockpit and cabin crews for flights from Frankfurt in Germany to at least some of the company's destinations in the USA including Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Fort Myers, Anchorage, Phoenix, and Halifax and Calgary, Canada.
Earlier this year, Eurowings signed a long-term wet-lease contract with the Lithuanian ACMI and charter carrier Avion Express comprising no less than 11 Airbus A320 aircraft, with effect from the coming summer 2022 schedule.
The Latvian carrier airBaltic has also landed a similar wet-lease contract with Eurowings comprising five Airbus A220-300 aircraft covering the summer 2022 season.
With an own fleet of 94 aircraft serving an extensive route network and 11 international bases, Eurowings is Germany’s largest leisure airline.
