Apr 07, 2022 (newstodate): The Russian airspace closure and the related route and frequency cancellations left a deep mark on Finnair's March cargo figures.
In March, available scheduled cargo tonne kilometers thus dropped by 10.5 percent, month-on-month, and revenue scheduled cargo tonne kilometers were down by 8.4 percent, month-on-month.
In March 2022, Finnair transported a total of 9,736 tonnes, up 21.6 percent, y-o-y, bringing Q1/22 totals to 34,756 tonnes, up 79.1 percent compared to Covid-19 plagued Q1/2021.
Strongly hit were volumes on the Asian lanes, aggregating 3,691 tonnes, but only up 47.5 percent, y-o-y; instead volumes grew feverishly on the North Atlantic routes that generated 3,402 tonnes of cargo, up strongly by 2,169.8 percent, y-o-y, also boosted by the opening of Finnair's US-bound operations from Stockholm.
