Apr 22, 2022 (newstodate): While Finnair's core traffic on the Asian lanes remain threatened by lockdowns and closure of Russian airspace, flights from Helsinki to India are high on the monitors.
Flights on the route between Helsinki and New Delhi returned from December 6, 2021, initially with two weekly rotations going up to three shortly before Christmas, and up to four weekly rotations from February 2022.
Finally, the full schedule with daily rotations will be reinstated from June 2022.
Kind of a novelty on this summer's schedule is the carrier's return to Mumbai with three weekly frequencies from March 28, 2022.
Actually, the route between Helsinki and Mumbai is not exactly new, rather a return of services to its second destination in India: Finnair started operations to Delhi, India, from November 1, 2006, adding flights to Mumbai on June 26, 2007, with five weekly rotations.
Flights to Mumbai were, however, suspended again from May 2009 citing low demand in the market, and later the destination disappeared from the route map.
Now, plans are to add one more frequency on the Helsinki-Delhi route from the next winter schedule, going up to four weekly rotations.
