Apr 11, 2022 (newstodate): EU has eased some of its harsh restrictions on Russia's aviation industry.
   Published on April 8, 2022, an updated version of the sanctions that have been imposed due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, now allows lessors to provide aircraft for financial leasing in Russia if the deal was concluded before February 26, 2022.
   Lessors mush, however, obtain individual confirmation of the financial leasing deals with Russian airlines, and export of aircraft spares and components from western manufacturers to sustain the airworthiness of the aircraft remains sanctioned.
   Russian operators of the aircraft under financial leasing contracts must therefore turn to cannibalizing other aircraft to obtain necessary spares supplies.
