Apr 01, 2022 (newstodate): Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, Latvia’s oldest operating carrier SmartLynx Airlines plans to have about 60 aircraft in the fleet in summer '22, ranking as the largest air fleet operator in the Baltic states.
In the fleet today are 33 aircraft; in April three more will be delivered, and another 22 will be delivered gradually towards the end of summer '22.
SmartLynx now operates 29 Airbus A320 Family passenger aircraft, two Airbus A321-200P2F, six Airbus A330-300 operating in the all-cargo market, and in April the company will receive the first of two Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.
As the fleet expands, the number of employees is also increasing from today's 300 employees at the Riga office; and plans are to add 40 more vacancies by the end of the year.
SmartLynx Airlines' long-term clients include EasyJet, TUI, Jet2, and recently companies including DHL, Qatar Airlines, Air Peace, Royal Air Morocco, and others have joined the portfolio.
