Mar 16, 2022 (newstodate): Air Serbia's hopes to benefit from the sanctions on Russia by increasing its services connecting Belgrade and Moscow have dampened..
Air Serbia has maintained air traffic with Russia, and the carrier even introduced its Airbus A330-200 aircraft on the route connecting Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport and Moscow against A320 earlier used on the route, going up from normally five to 15 weekly rotations.
But succumbing to strong public opposition as well as pressure from EU states, Air Serbia has now reduced its program for flights to Moscow to seven weekly rotations and downplayed its hopes for becoming a hub for Europe-Russia flights.
At a press conference, the Serbian President announced the reduction in the frequency of flights to Russia, while refuting the criticism of the Serbian carrier as an "unjustified witch hunt".
