Mar 01, 2022 (newstodate): The sanctions on Russia are having an imminent effect at Moscow Sheremetyevo Int'l Airport.
The Chairman of the Board of Aeroflot's main hub, A.A. Ponomarenko, has today announced his resignation from the office:
-On February 28 this year, I was included in the EU sanctions list. In the rationale for the decision of the Council of the EU, a real estate object in Gelendzhik is indicated, in relation to which I have repeatedly commented to Russian and foreign media that I left this project in 2016, did not participate in its financing and have not been related to it since. I'm also not even familiar with S.V. Aksyonov and never met him, says Mr Ponomarenko in a statement.
-Due to the circumstances, I consider it necessary to step down as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sheremetyevo International Airport JSC.
-I hope for a speedy resolution of the international crisis that has arisen, the normalization of political and economic relations between states.
** S.V. Aksyonov, referred to in the statement, is a Russian politician serving, since October 9, 2014, as the Head of the Republic of Crimea, an internationally disputed federal subject of Russia located on the Crimean Peninsula.
