Mar 29, 2022 (newstodate): The latest statistics covering cargo volumes carried by Russian airlines in January/February 2022 still show an over-all increase by 5.9 percent, y-o-y.
A total of 209,857 tonnes of cargo and mail was transported by 35 Russian airlines, with AirBridgeCargo holding its usual top position with 88,578 tonnes of cargo, albeit down 5.2 percent, y-o-y.
Also part of the Volga-Dnepr Group is Volga-Dnepr Airlines carrying 4,267 tonnes, increasing 62.6 percent, and Atran Airlines lifting 8.939 tonnes and growing 54.1 percent.
Aeroflot transported 24,471 tonnes, down only 0.8 percent, while the Aeroflot Group's LCC subsidiary Pobeda transported 9,385 tonnes, up 8.3 percent, y-o-y.
But - if reported at all, statistics from March 2022 will undoubtedly paint a very different picture of Russia's air cargo industry, hit by sanctions, and bereft of lucrative contracts for carriage of ex-China e-trade and PPE commodities to Europe.
