Mar 18, 2022 (newstodate): Iran hopes that a revival of the 2015 deal will revive the country's contracts to buy passenger aircraft from western companies Boeing, Airbus and ATR.
   In 2016, the total orders placed with Airbus comprised 118 aircraft including 45 A320, 45 A330, 16 A350, 12 A380, as well as 20 ATR aircraft.     
   In April 2017, Iran Air also signed contracts with Boeing for a total of 80 aircraft including 50 Boeing 737Max, 15 Boeing 777-300ER and 15 Boeing 777-9 aircraft, and another 60 aircraft to Aseman Airlines comprising 30 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft with deliveries to start from 2022 and options for a further 30 aircraft.  
   The agreement, however, depended on US license and was later abruptly cancelled by president Trump.
   As the USA reinstated severe sanctions on Iran from August 6, 2018, Iran managed to take delivery of a batch of ATR aircraft shortly before the curtain was closed.  
   Five ATR 72-600 aircraft thus left ATR's production site at Toulouse, France, for delivery on August 5, 2018, at Tehran Mehrabad Airport.
