Mar 29, 2022 (newstodate): Disruption generates new ways of thinking: Latvia's SmartLynx Airlines, a subsidiary of Avia Solutions Group, has kept its focus on sustained growth and new business after the dark period of Covid-19.
The company has thus completed the transition from a single-strategy business line to a triple-strategy model comprising passenger narrow-body, passenger long-haul, and cargo narrow-body/long-haul flights, all adding flexibility to its operations.
With its biggest fleet to date, the airline has launched an international cabin and flight crew recruitment process, aiming at taking in over 1,000 new flight and cabin crew members, including also Ukrainian pilots and cabin crew who have been left without employment because of the ongoing war in their country.
Starting out in 2021 with a fleet of 12 aircraft growing to 36 by the end of the year, SmartLynx Airlines is now focused on growing its fleet to 65 units by the end of 2022, including eight Airbus A321 converted freighter aircraft.
In the order book of SmartLynx are also six Airbus A330-300P2F with deliveries starting in 2023.
