Mar 03, 2022 (newstodate): Finland is to lose its air connectivity with Japan as of today, March 3, 2022.
Citing safety concerns following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Japan Airlines has announced the cancellation of all flights to and from Europe with immediate effect.
Besides flights through Russian airspace on the routes from Tokyo to London, Paris, and Frankfurt, Japan Airlines has also been operating flights to Helsinki since February 25, 2013, with daily rotations until the Covid-19 pandemic in a code-share agreement with Finnair.
As announced on February 27, 2022, Finnair has this week cancelled flights to Asian destinations including Tokyo in anticipation of Russian airspace closure, and today announced a cancellation of all shipments booked on flights to Japan and Korea from March 7 onwards, pending further considerations of alternative routings.
