Mar 15, 2022 (newstodate): As expected, a contract has now been signed between Avinor and Oslo Seafood & Cargo Centre AS for construction of a new Cool Hotel at Oslo Airport.
The contract was signed on March 9, 2022, allocating space at the airport for OSCC to start construction of the coming new facility that will drastically reduce the need for icing of seafood shipments, which is especially crucial during warmer summer seasons.
The 4,200 m2 facility with a capacity of storing up to 90 pallets per hour will be operated on a neutral basis to allow utilization by all exporters in the country's important seafood industry.
At the same time, the Cool Hotel slated for opening by Q1/2020 will also relieve the pressure on the existing terminals that today store flight-ready pallets alongside the production line at congested facilities with little, or no, space for expansion.
For several years, the CEO of OSCC, Roy Egil Skredderberget, has been a key driver behind the Cool Hotel that was not originally on the wishing-list of Avinor that has had its focus on the construction of a new seafood handling terminal at Oslo Airport
