Mar 08, 2022 (newstodate): Shippers and handlers of Norwegian seafood exports are eagerly awaiting news on plans for a "Cool Hotel" at Oslo Airport.
Avinor opened a tender for construction of the Cool Hotel, with bids from potential construction companies to be handed in by Q3, 2021, and results expected to be published by the end of October 2021, according to Avinor.
However, at least partly due to the Covid-19 impact, the tender results have still not been published leaving the market in a news vacuum.
Now, sources reveal to newstodate that a release will go out later this week announcing one of three existing seafood terminals at Oslo Airport, Oslo Seafood & Cargo Centre AS as the winner of the tender and thus to take responsibility for establishing the coming facility.
Avinor and OSCC are expected to sign the final papers this week, and plans are to see the opening of the Cool Hotel by Q1, 2023, greatly enhancing the quality of the cool chain serving the country's seafood exporters.
The facility relieving the pressure on the existing terminals that today have to store finished pallets alongside the production line at congested facilities with little, or no, space for expansion, will be fully neutral and serve all stakeholders in the seafood exports.
