Mar 22, 2022 (newstodate): Latvia's airBaltic has now presented its plans for the summer 2022 schedule.
airBaltic will be offering flights to a total of 92 destinations from its bases at Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius as well as from its new base at Tampere, in Finland - the first outside its home turf.
64 of the destinations will be served from Riga, 13 destinations from Tallinn, 12 destinations from Vilnius, as well as seven destinations from Tampere.
But due to the current airspace restrictions, the company has decided to suspend the planned flights from Riga to Baku and Yerevan for the upcoming summer season, and on March 7. 2022, airBaltic also decided to pull out from the Russian market "until further notice", after having earlier suspended services to Russia.
At Finland's Tampere-Pirkkala Airport, the carrier is to base one Airbus A220-300 aircraft to build up a network of connections to Oslo starting from May 2, 2022, with three weekly rotations; to Copenhagen from May 3, 2022, with three weekly rotations; to Frankfurt and Munich from May 2, 2022, with three weekly flights, and to leisure destinations Malaga and Rhodes from May 1 and 3, 2022, respectively, with two weekly flights. Flights connecting Tampere and Riga Airport have been operated since 2017, now as an all-year service with up to six weekly rotations.
In the fleet of airBaltic are now 33 Airbus A220-300 aircraft serving the carrier's network as well as performing charter and ad-hoc operations and wet-lease operations for carriers including SAS.
