Mar 22, 2022 (newstodate): Responding to Russia's military aggression in Ukraine, Aeroflot has been banned from operations into EU and other western airspace, causing international flights coming to a virtual stop.
Now, Aeroflot is cautiously restoring at least services to neighboring countries after the Russian president on March 14, 2022, signed a law "On Amendments to the Air Code of the Russian Federation and Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation, aimed at "ensuring the uninterrupted functioning of activities in the field of civil aviation".
Responding to this and starting from March 14, Aeroflot has resumed daily flights from Moscow to Bishkek and Osh in Kyrgyzstan, and from March 21 the carrier has added regular flights to Baku in Azerbaijan.
Today, Aeroflot has resumed daily flights between Moscow and Yerevan in Armenia - and starting from May 2, 2022, Aeroflot will also return services on the route between Moscow and Tehran in Iran with two weekly rotations.
Flights to Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan and Armenia are operated with Superjet 100 aircraft, while Aeroflot will operate an Airbus A321 on the route to Tehran.
