Feb 16, 2022 (newstodate): A new freighter type is soon entering commercial service: the Airbus A320P2F.
The aircraft will be the world's first A320P2F aircraft by Elbe Flugzeugwerke, a joint venture of ST Engineering and Airbus that is currently in its certification phase and is expected to be ready for revenue service in the first half of 2022.
The new aircraft will also be the world's first A320P2F aircraft to enter commercial operation, with the Nairobi-based all-cargo airline Astral Aviation as the launch operator for the first two of the five A320P2F aircraft on a sub-lease contract with Vaayu.
In 2015, Airbus signed an agreement with Singapore-based ST Aerospace to offer P2F conversion solutions for its A320/A321 aircraft to be marketed and managed by Elbe Flugzeugwerke, EFW.
With eleven main-deck container positions, the A320P2F will have the capacity of carrying 21 metric tonnes of payload over 2,100nm.
