Feb 14, 2022 (newstodate): Plans for establishing a new cargo airline in Ukraine are moving forward.
Behind the project is the Ukrainian postal company Nova Poshta that has decided to launch an own cargo carrier, Supernova Airlines.
One significant step has now been made by sourcing two Boeing 757-200 freighter aircraft to be delivered on a lease contract with a yet-unnamed lessor.
As the two aircraft have thus been secured, work on issuing an AOC by the Ukrainian CAA is now moving forward and Supernova is expected to perform its flight in September 2022.
This however also hinges on obtaining the pertinent licenses for flights to China and the USA.
The business plan for Supernova builds on lifting e-commerce shipments from China to the USA and Europe via Kiev Boryspil Airport.
Managing the airline will be Yaroslav Krasnozhon as CEO, formerly serving with the Turkish-owned Atlasjet Ukraine.
