Feb 09, 2022 (newstodate): Turkish Cargo has now at last integrated all its cargo operations at one spot - the new Istanbul Airport.
   With the opening of its new cargo facility at Istanbul Airport and the full implementation of SMARTIST, the infrastructure allows for handling not only the belly cargo and all-cargo volumes as before, but also Turkish Cargo's freighter traffic that remained at the old hub, Istanbul Ataturk Airport after the commissioning of Istanbul Airport by end of October 2018.
   Plans were then that the operations and handling of the freighter traffic would move to the new airport already by mid-2019, but this proved premature.
   Since the opening of the new Istanbul Airport, Turkish Cargo has performed 23,000 freighter operations and 6,000 all-cargo flights by passenger aircraft generating four mio tonnes of cargo in and out of Istanbul Ataturk Airport and 1.8 mio tonnes in and out of Istanbul Airport.
