Feb 08, 2022 (newstodate): SAS has today announced the opening of a new North American destination: Toronto, in Canada.
Starting from June 2022 and pending the pertinent approval from the authorities, the carrier will offer flights to Toronto from both Copenhagen and Stockholm, with three and four weekly rotations, respectively.
The routes will be operated with SAS' Airbus A321LR aircraft.
With the opening of this new destinations, SAS will operate flights in summer 2022 to seven destinations in the US and Canada: Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Washington DC, and Toronto.
So far, Air Canada has been alone in providing direct passenger flights between Toronto and Scandinavia, operating a five-times weekly service between Toronto and Copenhagen from June 25, 2010, using Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.
This service was however suspended from spring 2020 due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus - but Air Canada has planned to return passenger flights on the route again from May 2022, relying till then on connections via other European airports including Frankfurt and Vienna.
