Feb 03, 2022 (newstodate): Wideroe Ground Handling has inked a contract for ground handling of the coming new Norwegian long-haul carrier Norse Atlantic Airways at its home base, Oslo Airport.
May 1, 2021, marked the return by Wideroe Ground Handling to Oslo Airport after 13 years of absence, with the Norwegian regional carrier Wideroe as is launch customer and the Greek carrier Aegean Airlines as its second airline customer.
Heading Wideroe Ground Handling at Oslo Airport is Merete Elvestad as WGH Station Manager.
Norse Atlantic Airways plans to have a fleet of 15 aircraft ready already by this summer 2022 operating transatlantic flights on routes from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport to Oslo, Paris, and London.
In the plans are also flights from Oslo Airport to Ontario near Los Angeles, and to Newburgh near New York - both secondary airports serving major destinations at competitive airport charges.
In May 2021, Norse Atlantic succeeded in landing a pre-hire agreement with the U.S. Association of Flight Attendants, and on December 29, 2021, Norse Atlantic Airways received its AOC by the Norwegian FAA.
