Feb 02, 2022 (newstodate): EU member state Hungary is keen to maintain and even deepen good relations with Russia.
This comprises wishes for more direct air services between the two countries, and at the Hungarian PM Victor Orban's meeting with the Russian president the two parties agreed on reconsidering the current situation in flight connections.
Hungary wishes to see the opening of direct flights between Budapest and new Russian destinations Yekaterinburg and Kaliningrad - and this will now be negotiated.
Budapest Airport's connectivity with Russia already comprises flights to Kazan, Moscow Sheremetyevo, St Petersburg, and Vnukovo Airport.
