Feb 04, 2022 (newstodate): Finnair is expanding its cooperation with oneworld alliance partners through code share agreements.
On February 1, 2022, Alaska Airlines announced a new code share agreement with Finnair allowing passengers to book connecting flights through Seattle to more than 60 destinations throughout Alaska's network beginning June 1, 2022.
Starting from June 1, 2022, Finnair will be online at Seattle with a new thrice-weekly nonstop service between Helsinki and Seattle operated with Airbus A330 aircraft.
Since joining the oneworld airline alliance on March 31, 2021, Alaska Airlines has added more than 250 codeshare routes through partnerships with member airlines Qatar Airways and Iberia Airlines and expanded cooperation with existing oneworld partners American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Japan Airlines and Qantas Airways.
Finnair served Seattle between May 1981 and October 1989 with DC10, operating a Helsinki – Seattle and/or Helsinki – Seattle – Los Angeles routing, and had planned for the reopening of the route to Seattle from June 2021 - which was however delayed due to the Covid-19 situation.
