Feb 04, 2022 (newstodate): Slow growth in traffic on the Asian lanes and expected lower demand on the passenger side force Finnair to redirect wide-body capacity to the European and North American traffic.
As in 2021, Finnair will thus operate Airbus A330 and A350 aircraft on European routes in the coming summer season, now planning for some 1,900 flights in Europe with Airbus A330 or A350 aircraft, almost twice the volume in 2021.
Starting already by February 23, 2022, Finnair's Airbus A330 and A350 will thus return on some frequencies on the route to London.
From March 27, Finnair will allocate wide-body aircraft on the route to Amsterdam, and from March 30, will deploy the A330 on the route to Brussels two times per week.
By contrast, Finnair's capacity on routes to Asia will be reduced by 21 percent, y-o-y, due to the lower demand and sustained restrictions on air traffic by some countries including China that will only allow for one weekly rotation on the route between Helsinki and Shanghai.
