Feb 16, 2022 (newstodate): This week saw a Boeing 777-200F with main deck and lower deck capacity from Etihad Cargo at Norway's Oslo Airport.
The aircraft was contracted to lift over 90 tonnes of fresh seafood from Oslo to Abu Dhabi for onward transportation to the Asian marketplace.
The first carrier in the Middle East – and second globally – to be awarded the IATA CEIV Fresh certificate, Etihad has developed its dedicated FreshForward product to simplify the process of moving temperature-sensitive perishables across its network, with Abu Dhabi as its hub.
While the first pure freighter visit by Etihad Cargo at Oslo Airport, the carrier is however no real newcomer.
Starting from May 2, 2020, Etihad Cargo was operating a weekly all-cargo flight from Oslo to Abu Dhabi, offering onward transfer to Seoul Incheon and other Asian destinations.
The initial series of five flights was performed with converted Boeing 787-10 passenger aircraft with one weekly call at Oslo Airport, but already from June 2, 2020, Etihad Cargo added a second weekly flight on the route.
-The freighter flight was planned as a one-off, but never say never; hope to be able to operate on a regular basis into Oslo. But for now, please consider it as a one-off flight, says Soufyan Mouaniss, Etihad Cargo General Manager North & Western Europe at Etihad Cargo, in response to newstodate's inquiry.
