Feb 24, 2022 (newstodate): Air Canada has now announced the return of services to Denmark in summer 2022.
Starting from May 2, 2022, the carrier will again be online on the route between Toronto and Copenhagen, initially with three weekly rotations using Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
Air Canada launched its five-times weekly service between Toronto and Copenhagen from June 25, 2010, using Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.
This service was however suspended from spring 2020 due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus.
To meet the demand for cargo capacity during the suspension of passenger flights, Air Canada has been serving the Scandinavian air cargo market with all-cargo passenger aircraft flights in a partnership with HWF since April 26, 2020.
From the start, the carrier was offering one weekly all-cargo Boeing 787-9 rotation - increasing from October 1, 2020, to two weekly rotations to accommodate the increasing demand for westbound cargo movement.
This time Air Canada will face competition on the route; starting from June 2022 and pending the pertinent approval from the authorities, SAS will offer flights to Toronto from both Copenhagen and Stockholm, with three and four weekly rotations, respectively.
The routes will be operated with SAS' Airbus A321LR aircraft.
