Dec 20, 2022 (newstodate): The Norwegian LCC Flyr is seeking new revenue streams to counterbalance its losses in the European traffic.
One effort is to apply to the U.S. Department of Transportation for a permit to operate non-scheduled charter and wet-lease flights in and out of the U.S, aiming at next year's winter season.
-Flyr's updated strategy includes taking advantage of commercial opportunities outside its home market in the low season, says Bjorn Erik Barman-Jenssen, Flyr CGOO on LinkedIn.
Flyr claims to see a growing number of wet-lease requests in the US market that is increasingly short of crews and aircraft for charter and wet-lease operations.
Flyr has also named its agent representing the company in the USA: Josh Romanow, a US aviation lawyer with Pillsbury Law that also earlier represented the now-defunct carrier Norwegian in the USA.
