Dec 12, 2022 (newstodate): Now it's in the open: Nordic Aviation Group is setting up a new Estonia-based German carrier Marabu, slated to take off on direct routes from Hamburg and Munich in the summer 2023.
The capacity provider NAG is holding the AOC establishing the virtual carrier Marabu with a fleet of three Airbus A320neo aircraft on an ACMI contract and crew bases at the two German airports, with plans to grow the fleet further to six units at a later stage.
Behind Marabu as sole owner is the British investment firm Attestor that also holds 51 percent of the shares in Condor.
Fully state-owned, Nordic Aviation Group comprises the capacity provider Xfly operating seven ATR72-600 as well as nine CRJ900 on a contract with SAS, and the airline Nordica operating one Airbus A320 aircraft - both companies with an own AOC.
Nordica has revealed its ambitions to be operating up to 10 Airbus A320 within "the next few years" as requested by the market.
