Dec 12, 2022 (newstodate): Another two Airbus A220-300 aircraft for the Latvian carrier airBaltic are now on the Final Assembly Line at the Canadian production plant.
But earlier slated for delivery before the end of this year to bring the carrier's fleet to 40 units, these two aircraft will not meet the target.
-The main plan and the goal remains the same – airBaltic is aiming towards 50 aircraft by early 2024, airBaltic's Communications Unit responds to newstodate's inquiry.
-airBaltic is in ongoing communication with Airbus; but the delay of deliveries is related to continuation of the global supply chain disruptions due to the consequences of the pandemic and war in Ukraine, faced by manufacturers in many industries, aviation as well.
-Unfortunately, the airline is dependent on this situation, which requires corrections and/or shifts in our initial plans, the messge reads.
airBaltic is today operating a single-type aircraft fleet of 38 Airbus A220-300 aircraft, part of airBaltic's order for 50 Airbus A220-300; in addition, airBaltic holds 30 options and purchase rights for the same aircraft type
Most of airBaltic's Airbus A220-300 aircraft are delivered on sale/lease-back contracts with various aircraft lessors including Altavair, Chorus Aviation Capital, Aviation Capital Group and Skytech-AIC, with investors funding the acquisitions.
